Calm after the storm, part III: My experience, and exhaustion

So, the elections are over. For the last two months, I have been more of a political junkie than I have ever been. I have read and watched more news than ever before.
But this morning, when I clicked through to the New York Times, I found myself unable to read more than a paragraph of any article I selected to read. I found myself unable to finish any LJ entry that had a political spin. I may have finally reached my threshold. I'm exhausted. Which, frankly, sucks, because I want to keep up with President-elect Obama's staffing choices and policies. I find myself wanting to check in at change.gov. But I think I'm finally over-saturated. I need to get away from both the TV and the Web for a while. Just a little while.
I need to find other ways of keeping myself occupied and productive. There's so much to do around here: the closet project, craft projects, writing, and so on. I need to listen to more radio, catch up on music I've missed for weeks. I owe e-mail to several friends. I need to get back to other parts of my life.
The time will come when I'm ready to dive back into current events, but not perhaps as fanatically as I have been lately. Balance is important. Let's see how I do.
