The suspense about Darcy Burner kept me paying attention, because I've met her quite a few times and donated a lot to her campaign. Now it seems that the dimwit sheriff has won again, which is a huge disappointment. I have to keep up with political news in the rest of the country, to remind myself that the 8th district is one of those unfortunate exceptions in a tide of good news.
The other exception to the good news is California Proposition 8. It seems that "8" is this year's political unlucky number.
