APoD is my home page. Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I was in fourth grade, and astounded by astronomy books. I read all of them on the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade shelves. Then I learned you had to do math to be an astronomer. Of course, in those days, Maria's comet notwithstanding, girls didn't grow up to be astronomers, but there it was.
I have many of the APoD pictures as part of my screensaver montage.
One of the guys who runs APoD spoke at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC last fall, and we went to hear him. He was a total geek, and totally delightful. There is a wonderful book of photos from the site, too, which I gave this year as a Christmas gift. Citation to come.
I adore APoD
