Saturday: Went to West Seattle with
ironymaiden to spend a lovely, snowy afternoon at
shadow_and_veil's place doing craftiness. Our hostess did some peyote stitch beading.
shellyinseattle was there doing her calligraphy, and L, of course, also being in residence, doing origami. I made a Christmas gift for a friend, and then possibly the most goth piece of jewelry I've ever made or will ever make. It's been in the planning for a while now, using beads I acquired the last time I went to the Oregon coast (i.e., this past spring). The key I acquired at an antiques show. The beads are Balinese and Hill Tribe silver, garnet, and Czech and other glass.

That big, lovely art bead (an Oregon acquisition) on the pendant is actually translucent, which you can't tell from the photo. I'm pretty happy with the result, though I admit to some reservation about the choker part of the piece, and may find myself taking it apart and recomposing it. I'm also a little concerned about the loop on the pendant being able to support its weight, so I may redo that part and rewrap the loop for strength. Also? Jewelry is hard to photograph (though at 7 in the morning, in a rush, I wasn't trying very hard). The photos don't do the piece justice.
Sunday was all chorus all the time. My intention had been to paint in the morning, but the cold and the wet persuaded me not to open the windows. I wasn't about to spend the day locked up in the house breathing paint fumes over my already slightly compromised vocal cords (been feeling a little sore the last day or two). So I rested, I practiced my music, and then ultimately got on the road to Redmond. We performed pretty well, though could have used a little more rehearsal, I thought. Happily, it was a pretty low-pressure situation and we enjoyed it for what it was. Between the two performances, I did a little light holiday shopping. I had dinner with
snarke after the singing, always delightful, and then came home.
Not really ready for the work week, but time marches on.
Also? Hope to post zoo pics shortly. And maybe, someday, London.
