Last week I talked about how I'd stayed after rehearsal to audition for solos for the chorus' upcoming concert, Rise Up & Sing! Songs of Peace, Protest, and Liberation. Tonight I got the news:

I got the solo I wanted!

::bounce bounce::

Specifically, I'll be singing the first verse of "Defying Gravity," from the Broadway show, "Wicked". (And you all know what that means: You have to come see me! ...Oh yeah, and the rest of the chorus, too.)

The show will also feature the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] lisagail (she of whom I spoke last week, the one who sung the hell out of the other song I auditioned for), the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] julzerator, the charming [livejournal.com profile] loba, and a few others I know I'm forgetting now because it's late and, well, I'm all excited about me, frankly.

So, go buy tickets! I wanna see lots of familiar faces in the audience!

Yay!

Hee. Thanks! I should also note for the record that this is the second time our director has cast me to sing music from this particular Broadway show. The first was "For Good," a song I still can't get enough of.

Huzzah! And congratulations!

And now I can't get the clip they used on the radio commercials out of my head...when I get home from work, I'm going to have to listen to the song all the way through, so it ends... :-)

Yay! indeed!
::bounce bounce:: indeed!

Now, all you need to do is convince them to do a show on 6/20 or 6/21.

We are in fact doing a show on 6/20--but it's in Olympia....

Hey, what are a few miles if we're going to be in your "neck of the woods" anyway? :)

Do you expect Olympia to be a sellout or can we wait until later (even at the door) in case timing doesn't work out?

Hmmm. Just went to the SLGC web site and it says Olympia is 6/16. Which wouldn't work. ::grumble::

Oh, you're right. But something chorus-wise is going on around June 20. Lemme see...

I remember now! We're singing the national anthem at the Seattle Storm's Tip of to Pride game. The Storm is Seattle's championship-winning women's basketball team. They loved us last year and have asked us back. It was so much fun. You're probably not interested in women's basketball and I don't blame you if you aren't, but if you could make it, it would surely be cool.

One way or another, I'd love to see you both when you're in town. After I get back from my next trip (for which I depart tomorrow and return next Wednesday), let's get into planning mode.

Shine on!
