Dream journal: alligators

Dreamed last night that I was living somewhere that had flooded (Seattle?) and that I stood on the end of a pier catching alligators with my bare hands and chopping off their heads with a chainsaw. This was a neater process in my dream than I suspect it would be in real life; the chainsaw behaved more like an electric knifeno fuss, no muss. Things got a little weird when I discovered that one of the alligators I picked up was purring; suddenly taking a chainsaw to it became a sad and cruel thing.
I don't know where this came from. I'm not sure I want to find out.
(Anyone ever notice time-stampy weirdness on LJ? I posted this at 8:38 AM, and LJ originally marked it 2:38 PM--before I manually corrected it. My profile is set for PDT; why would LJ do that? How weird is that?)

Gator Dream
Date: Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 07:26 pm (UTC)If they represent Sobek, then you are rejecting his aspect of divine reincarnation, in favor of punishment of yourself (the flirtation with Sekhmet/Bast, the cat purring, unless this is the aspect of Bast for good health)
But if they represent Ammit, who after all only had the head of a crocodile but with sometimes the mid-quarters of a cat, then you are celebrating your victory over death and damnation.
(and don't anyone flame me for the fact that gators and crocs aren't exactly the same reptile; I know that!)
