Tuesday night bits and pieces
Tue, Jan. 4th, 2005 09:48 pmBack to work today. The leg's better but still a little sore. I expect a complete recovery by tomorrow, just in time for medically-inflicted torture on another part of my anatomy. The Dread Pirate Roberts says that life is pain. I think maybe life is mild discomfort; at least that's how it feels right now.
In other quarters, I received an extremely complimentary personal rejection letter today dated, entertainingly, December 2, which suggests that not only was the editor being gracious in his rejection but may have been attempting to spare me a lousy holiday season. One rejection wouldn't have done it, certainly, but it was a thoughtful move. At any rate, I'm thinking about the comments included in the note and revisionsslight onesare afoot. But the story will be back in the mail on Thursday. I've been sworn to this by
mabfan and I can't go back on it. Maybe this'll kick me in the ass on other stuff that's been moldering on my hard drive.
I've completed watching season 1 of "Carnivale" via the joys of Comcast On Demand and my general comment is "Damn! That's fine television." (Thanks in part are due to
herself_nyc who I've seen mention it more than once in her journal.) 'Course, Ronald Moore, one of the key writers on the show, also worked on another well-written fantasy series with its own rich mythology, "Beauty and the Beast,"* "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Deep Space Nine" so I shouldn't be surprised. I know where I'll be spending my Sunday evenings this spring.
Been working on a couple of LJ icons for my dark moods. I've found a couple of excellent bases but haven't nailed down the words yet. They'll make their debuts once they're ready ... sometime before the end of the week, I expect, not because I expect to be blue but because I may want to show them off. We shall see.
And in an interesting development, I heard from someone today that I never thought I'd hear from again. It's a new year. Anything's possible.

* Edit:
kradical points out quite rightly that Moore had nothing to do with "B&B" but, rather, the Trek series mentioned above. No doubt that's why my brain made the association, even if it was the wrong one. I realized this by the time I was half asleep last night but was too far gone to get up and do anything about it. At any rate, I stand corrected.
