Generally speaking
Mon, Dec. 20th, 2004 07:12 amThe Weekend
The weekend, generally speaking, was quite nice: much cleaning and some writing on Saturday, parties Saturday night, a lovely brunch on Sunday at the home of
twilight20000 in the company of
hgross and
evego, and then a farewell dinner for
brainstormfront, who's headed back to Wisconsin for a while. He'll be missed and we all hope he'll be back soon. Keep a good thought for him as he drives across the country over the next few days.
Tonight
Tonight's my acting class showcase. I'm ready to go, but then I've been ready to go since Thursday when the showcase was originally scheduled. Its rescheduling has been a sore point for me; it's done and it can't be helped, but it's meant that a number of people I hoped would join us can't make it, which is disappointing. The other sore point about all this is that I'd made a deliberate choice about the monologue I was doing in that no one else in class had chosen it for performance ... until last class, when I discovered that Giselle had decided to do a truncated version of it herself instead of doing the one she'd originally chosen. My only consolation is that I'm slated to go on before her and that I'm doing the entire piece instead of the edited-down version she's chosen. I was very seriously tempted to choose another monologue and study up at the last minute despite all the prep I've done for this one, then I decided that it just wasn't worth it. I know I have to get past my frustration about it and just do the work. I will say, however, that I'm rejoicing at the fact I won't have to deal with her ever again after tonight. Between the spectacular way she flaked out on me with our scenework and this stunt, I'm pretty much done with her.
Okay, time to move on and concentrate on me now....
