The better part of valor...
Fri, Dec. 3rd, 2004 09:55 am...or crankiness, depending upon your point of view.
I got up. I showered. I packed. I put my passport in my bag. I took DayQuil. I packed up the car. I went to the gas station to fill the car. I went to the 7-11 to get tissues and water, intending to hit the road.
Inside the 7-11, I ran into my former Wizards of the Coast supervisor who took one look at me and said, "Where the hell are you going? You look like death warmed over."
"Why, thank you, Doug," I said. "I'm going to Canada. cough cough hack hack"
"Um...I think you should stay home. I mean, unless you look like that all the time."
And suddenly I realized that all I wanted to do was lay down. I was sweating in my coat. And was I tired.
So I turned around, came home, called and begged off, at least for today. There's still a slim chance I might go tomorrow. Depends upon how I feel. But right now, the prospect of driving three hours, punctuated by the border crossing is just...unappealing. I feel bad. But I also feel... I dunno. Not better, just a little relieved.
Oh, and DayQuil? Tastes horrible.
