In all the excitement about the car, I forgot to mention that I saw "Escape from Tomorrow" this weekend. It's a weird, fascinating, hallucinogenic roller coaster ride through Disney World about one man's disturbing last day at the park, sort of David Lynch meets Snow White in the Twilight Zone. The film was made under the radar at both Disney World and Disneyland, sort of the ultimate act of guerilla filmmaking, which was one of the reasons I wanted to see it. It's not great cinema--the writing is uneven and the performances are, occasionally, a little artificial--but it's totally unique, a bizarre artifact of modern American culture, and well worth seeing, especially if you're a Disney aficionado.

You'd think that The Walt Disney Company would pounce on this like a kid on cotton candy, but they've said almost nothing about it. Wikipedia reports that the filmmakers were very careful about crossing the lines of copyright infringement, and Disney hasn't made a single move toward legal action, which I find absolutely fascinating. If you can see it, I recommend it. It's weird and disturbing, and you'll never see DisneyWorld the same way again. It puts a whole new spin on my upcoming trip in December.
