My To-Write List

I have a number of things I want to write about here. I've been busy with the new job and with, well, other stuff as detailed in my previous post that has kept me from journaling on anything like a regular basis. I want that to change. I know that people are migrating away from LJ; myself, I'm not ready to do that, mainly because I don't know what my solution might be. (Yes, I have a Dreamwidth account. I have to figure out what I'm going to do about the nearly 10 years of journaling I have here on LJ.)

In the meanwhile, this is my LJ writing to-do list. I really need to get to it.
--Weight and invisibility
--My first Seattle International Film Festival event of the year
--My experience with EMDR treatment for PTSD
--My general weight loss situation at the moment
--My upcoming publication and the essay related to the story in question

I look forward to those posts!

As to Dreamwidth - I did the export/import thing awhile ago, and it appeared to work perfectly. I now post on Dreamwidth, with it set to automatically post to LJ, and that's been working fine. The post is on LJ before I can click over to check on it. Edits to the post on DM synch, too.

I post on my WordPress, which xposts to Dreamwidth, which then xposts to LJ, which then xposts to Facebook. The only hangup is that the WP to DW export somehow sets comments to "disabled" on both DW and LJ, but a visit to DW to reset fixes both DW and LJ.

The beauty of that posting method is that then original material and pictures are on my own website, at my own webaddress, so technically, none of 'em--DW, LJ, FB are the original site for any of my material. A slight technicality, but given the various discussions regarding rights and the like...

Despite using it less, I still like Livejournal!

I migrated to DW when LJ was going through a spate of crashes. These days when I do post, I write on DW and export. Most of the time it's fairly seamless.

(As an aside, I will be very interested in your experience with EMDR treatment for PTSD. I did it about a decade ago.)

I'd be very interested in your experience with the EMDR I did a few sessions of it, and would be interested in comparing.

My experience is very similar to janetl's, above. Was able to export all my LJ writings to DW. I post to DW, but the cross posting is nearly instantaneous. For the blog writing, I use a WordPress add in that does the cross posting.

And I will read whatever you post, believe it or not!

LJ Book is another option for blog archiving, in case you don't want to import the years of posts into your DW.

DW is pretty quiet, so I like that there is a way to easily crosspost. The Wordpress to DW to LJ to FB continuity makes it possible to reach those who've either left LJ or never were on it. Additionally, Google+ can be linked to FB via Twitter. We all just have so many *choices* now.

Ten years? I thought that you had been on LJ a *lot* longer than me! I'm not an early adopter of anything.

I am particularly interested in your EMDR experience. Several people have recently told me that they've done this, and it's been helpful. I am curious to know how it went for you.

And on archiving, it's pretty easy. I've done it for Mark's LJ blogs, and for portions of mine. It does take time if you're downloading a year or more of data, but it did work.
