See, I don't even think that he--my former friend, to be clear--feels homosexuality is awful. I think he feels that he's being oppressed by people who insist that his belief in marriage only for one man and one woman is being denied. He sees himself as oppressed by those who think differently. He's not making the distinction between believing something and enacting legislation to enforce it.
I will defend his right to think what he thinks and say what he says; this is why we have a First Amendment. Where I draw the line is when he decides to legislate away another's civil rights because he thinks they're wrong. It's where the Nazis started. It cannot be allowed to stand.
