I recently posted the following (in a slightly different format):

I hope to blog sometime soon about:
1) religion, history, and heritage (a subject broached by a friend recently which dovetailed well with Passover's arrival)
2) my experince at
mischief_wa's Sweet Adelines dress rehearsal
3) Last Flight of the Goddess by Ken Scholes, and
4) the rewards of personal archeology (I found some pictures yesterday that I have got to scan and post).

I'm hitting #3 first.
I recently read Last Flight of the Goddess by our
kenscholes, published by Fairwood Press (a.k.a.
tbclone47). This short novel (~75 pages in big print) is about Andro, a retired wandering hero in the high fantasy tradition going on his last adventure, how he tries to respect the memory of his recently deceased wife, the adventuress Luendyl the Fierce and Fair, and who he meets along the way. Ken (sorry, I know the guy, I can't make myself refer to him by his last name as one would expect in a book review) has got all the high fantasy tropes down cold and hits most of them in ways you might not immediately expect. This is a goodness. The writing is first rate; the narrative voice is laced with in turns melancholy or wry humor that strikes exactly the right notes. It's a sweet (but nowhere near saccharine) story, ultimately romantic in spite of and often because of its high-fantasy circumstances. This is the good stuff. Highly recommended.
