Ten Percent
Tue, Apr. 26th, 2011 09:30 pmTonight at my Weight Watchers meeting, I discovered that I had just surpassed my 10% weight loss goal. Specifically, the milestone was losing 10% of my body weight as measured when I started the program. In recognition of this milestone, my leader gave me a little Weight Watchers key chain; at other milestones, WW gives out charms that fit onto the key chain as mementos of the weight-loss journey.
The bling is nice to have, of course, but what's more important is the accomplishment. Last week after my weigh-in, I focused on getting to 10% this week, and I'm proud of myself that I succeeded. Now, I need to stay focused to get to my next two goals--the short-term one is my next five-pound milestone, within fairly close reach, and the long-term one is 15%. Both of these are on the foreseeable horizon if I stick to the program as I have so far.
What with the bad weather and travel, I've gotten out of the habit of doing the walking I had begun to do back in March. I need to start walking again. I've also gotten out of the habit of eating my once-a-morning cantaloupe, but that's mainly because the cantaloupe I've seen at the supermarket has looked pretty poor. I've been buying pre-cut cantaloupe, but not as regularly, and not enough to sustain the habit I had built. I need to fix that. These are the things I need to reinstate in my life, now that weather and travel aren't the considerations they have been recently.
New things I want to institute include trying to do more cooking and experimenting with new foods. I've gotten into some ruts that I really need to break out of. Early on in the year, I purchased a WW cookbook with the goal of trying some new things. I haven't cooked a single thing out of it yet. I want to follow through on that. I also want to buy myself a gift, something tangible and not food, that will be a reward for the work I've done so far. Not sure what that will be, but I'll figure it out.
In the meanwhile: 10%! Go me!
