The consequences of joining Facebook

So I've done it: I've joined Facebook. In the course of just a few hours, I seem to have acquired something like 50 friends, including folks I knew in high school. Kind of remarkable.

I also discovered that someone I knew from Hebrew school through high school just died of cancer. And I mean within the last few days. Talk about timing. She was actually one of the people I was looking forward to reconnecting with, assuming she was on FB. I found her younger brother instead, with the news posted on his wall.

Sometimes you get the news you want. Sometimes you don't.
