I mentioned a few days ago that I've started a reorganization project at home, cleaning out closets and going through stuff. Today, I posted a CraigsList ad for a triple hamper laundry sorter that I hardly ever use. I have another, smaller hamper that I use regularly, so out of the closet this comes and away goes. What I really need in that big closet is a shelf system because I need some significant storage space. I may stop at Storables today and pick up some shelves (or continue to check Craigslist for what I need).
Last night, I attended
mischief_wa's concert with Pacific Sound Chorus, her Sweet Adelines group. The show was mighty fine. Generally speaking, I'm not much of a barbershop music fan, but the chorus and its guests--two female quartets and a male quartet--were terrific. Of course, these groups are all award-winners, really at the top of their form, so it was fun to listen to them do their stuff.
Otherwise, it's been pretty quiet around here. I'm job hunting, doing my physical therapy exercises for the shoulder, helping out
robespierrette with some Democratic party work, and reading a bit. Current books: Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman (clever and funny, but I often find myself able to predict what's coming about ten pages before it happens) and All the Presidents' Men by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein (I like their authorial voice a great deal; they know how to tell a story).
And I'm overdosing on the news, preparing to watch tonight's debate. I don't think I've ever seen a debate where the candidates sit next to one another. It should be interesting. I'll also be curious to see whether or not we actually get a debate in which the candidates speak to each other rather than the two of them speaking to the moderator or the audience, spouting off their talking points.
Other TV stuff: Project Runway season 5 wraps up tonight. I haven't talked about it at all this season because, frankly, while I haven't missed an episode, I haven't been especially invested in any of the designers. I'm curious, not passionate, to see how it turns out. And tonight is Ghost Hunters, too. I hate it that my Wednesday-night appointment TV runs concurrently. Heroes, this season, is an overwrought, over-casted mess. In Tim Kring's rush to fix last season's problems, he's tried too hard to get the ball rolling too quickly and the story is running over itself. I'm frustrated and can't keep track of the new characters. He's losing me. Chuck, what I've seen, has retained all its charm and good storylines. Lastly, did anyone catch the premier of My Own Worst Enemy on Monday night? I thought it was an interesting idea and that Christian Slater was great. Nice skiffy premise and compelling spy stuff all wrapped up in one. I'll continue to watch.
