The Merlin Report
Sat, Aug. 9th, 2008 11:32 amThis morning, Merlin had a six month check-up in the wake of his peculiar episode of palsied walking half-a-year ago. There have been no recurrences of the weird walking and he's been himself with little deviation. The vet took his blood pressure and some blood and urine. We won't have the latter test results until Monday. Results of the exam: He's lost a half-pound which is a lot when you weigh less than 10 pounds. His blood pressure is through the roof. But even the vet commented that, for an underweight senior citizen, he's alert, strong, curious and very well-behaved; in short, he's looking pretty good. So he'll be on blood pressure medication for the rest of his kitty life and we're going to change his food. We have to check in with the vet in 7-10 days and we'll see what happens.
Home now. Spanky is behaving as if Merlin is a creature from a demon dimension requiring exorcism with the kind of sirening growl that only disturbed cats can make. Merlin's bathing himself on the futon. Things are more-or-less status quo.
I'm off in a few minutes for a day trip. Will report as news becomes available.
