I had a perfectly lovely afternoon...

...going to lunch and the theater with a group of women friends to see "Persuasion" at Book-It Rep. A really nice outing. The adaptation is excellent and I enjoyed it hugely. I got to see my friend FL perform and to visit with him briefly after the show (at which point he gave me a postcard for the next production he'll be in, "Troilus and Cressida," which features the most terrific, provocative poster art I've seen for a show in a long time--I wanna see the play now). Lovely day.

So why am I crabby as hell now? I mean really crab-crab-crabby. There's no reason for this. I grumble.

Brief Oscar thoughts

Jon Stewart is a class act, start to finish.

I want that necklace that Nicole Kidman was wearing.

Helen Mirren will always be the queen. Though everyone looked fabulous (for once), her dress was my favorite.

I want to be sharp and attractive and completely present when I'm 98.

In Hollywood, occasionally dreams do come true.

I'm for reading and then for bed.
