scarlettina: (Everything Easier (shot and made by me))
My original plan for today was to stay in and vegetate. I was tempted to go out because a friend reminded me that this weekend was the annual University District Street Fair, where I have occasionally purchased wonderful, hippy-dippy summer dresses. Unfortunately, being unexpectedly penniless, such a spring indulgence was out of the question. I stuck to my original plan and didn't leave the house.

Instead, I worked on decluttering the kitchen table (with some success). I sorted and filed smashed pennies that needed same (thereby reducing the clutter further still). Early this morning I watched CBS Sunday Morning which, to my mind, is the perfect TV magazine and should be watched by everyone. (Springsteen fans, click the link above for coverage of The Boss' current tour.) I watched "Gaslight" on TMC, which I hadn't seen in so long that some of it was a surprise and wonderful fun. (My G-d, Ingrid Bergman was beautiful!) I did laundry. I read a bit. I wrote a bit and I napped a bit.

The weather was wonky today: bright in the morning, then overcast. Then we had a sudden downpour. The sun came out quickly and I watched the vapor rise from the roof adjacent to my livingroom window. Now it's clear blue and sunny, if a bit chilly. And it's looking (fingers crossed) as though I may finally get some flowers out of the big plant pot on the balcony.

In short, it was a Sunday. A nice, if solitary, one.

And a big shout-out to [livejournal.com profile] ladyjestocost and [livejournal.com profile] bedii who are wonderful friends; they know why.

A word to the wise: Do not purchase and use "Seventh Generation" laundry detergent. It's supposed to be ecologically sound detergent. What I have found, however, is that in the space of three laundry cycles, I've got inexplicable spots and stains on clothes that were perfectly fine when they went into the laundry. Never happened before, and it's not going to happen again. I'm pissed.
