Playing catch up
Tue, May. 10th, 2005 10:17 pmA number of things have been left to languish around here. Let's see if I can give a brief update before I collapse exhausted into bed.
The Job
So what's the job? I'm working as a consultant at Microsoft for the IT Communications group. Basically, this group oversees how Microsoft's Information Technology team communicates internally and externally. Because IT supports the entire company (50K+ people around the world), Management decided that consistency in messaging and branding, cultural sensitivity and efficiency were all paramount in any communication that went out to more than 500 people. Nothing that goes out from IT goes out without our review and approval. In short, I'm a Communications Enforcer (tm). It's an interesting position to be in, because not only am I doing the kind of developmental work I've done for years but in a different context, suddenly I'm also creating "communications plans" that dictate how one group talks to another before the talking actually begins. I've definitely been thrown into the deep end of the pool. I'm still floundeirng a bit, but it's getting better. This could be an interesting gig.
The Workshop
Thanks to everyone who sent congratulations about my being accepted into Fairwood Writers. I really am pleased about this. Now I have to up my output to get the full value of my time spent there.
Chorus Fundraiser
If you live in the Seattle area, you should be aware that this Saturday is West Seattle Garage Sale Day. As part of this fabulous communal closet cleaning, the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Chorus is throwing a fund-raising garage sale. Join us from 9 AM to 3 PM at 3605 SW 102nd St. in West Seattle. Buy our stuff, support the chorus and then troll the rest of the neighborhood for bargains!
( Comments on Various (Mostly Light) Current Events )
Oh, and I forgot to tape Dr. Who tonight, which just frustrates me no end, seeing as how I hear there were daleks tonight. ::sigh::
But all in all, things are good. Now, if I could just get the house a little tidier....
