...in short, a perfect, perfect day. ::happy sigh::
I just got home from
webcowgirl and
shadowdaddy's sort-of anniversary party, having left because I'd Hit The Wall (the wall of exhaustion, specifically), but by the time I walked in the door, I got a tiny second wind (that I can already feel is beginning to fade). But the party was the perfect end to a fabulous day.

After our late lunch, I had about an hour to change and prep for the concert. I was to wear black head-to-foot but, as the narrator, got to add my Egyptian sterling silver drop earrings and Cambodian silk wrap to the mix, a gold-patterned black wrap at least seven feet long with a reddish-purple border and fringe. There was much oohing and aahing over the wrap when I got to the church. One of the girls helped me pin the thing into place so it wouldn't slip back and forth as I moved. The performance went beautifully. I got the Welsh pronunciation right. (Whew!) I did make one little slip, when I thought for a moment that I was reading the wrong passage. After a moment's hesitation I just kept reading (the only way to handle it, really), and it turned out that I was reading the right bit. All in all, given that I'd had only one rehearsal, I felt very good about my work tonight. The chorus was hugely supportive and I felt enormous satisfaction as I walked back to my car after it was all over. And, you know, the applause didn't hurt either. ::grin:: And yes, I signed up for auditions next month. This felt too good not to try and continue. (I suspect there will be a post on lessons learned from today at some point in the next couple of days.)
Once the performance was done, I headed over to the aforementioned soiree. With just a couple of exceptions, almost everyone at the party was new to me, and it was a delight to get to know them all a bit, well, those I got to talk with anyway. I hope I'll get to see them all again soon. When I left, it was only because I was concerned that I might not be safe to drive if I stayed any longer, just out of sheer fatigue.
And I said something about personal power sometime this morning, didn't I? I'm buzzing with it tonight. I'm going to work to make it last.
