Weirdly satisfying weather
Sat, Dec. 6th, 2003 09:08 amWe had another rain-and-wind storm last night. My condo is, essentially, the attic of our building, so my suspicion is that I hear the wind storms more vividly than anyone else living here. As I lay in bed, I listened to the howling freight train of the wind roaring over the roof, and wondered if the huge fir tree in the neighbor's backyard would come crashing through my ceiling. The rain sounded like hammers on the roof above, it fell so hard.
This morning, all is silence and peace. The sky is gray overcast with a rim of blue along the eastern horizon. The air is still, and I can hear the thin whoosh of traffic way over on the Aurora Bridge. You'd never know that last night, I found myself identifying with Dorothy as she watched the approach of the twister.
Ain't nature grand?
