Weekend reach-around

It was such a busy weekend that I didn't get to journal any of it in real time. I took some time yesterday and today to blog through the whole thing. I did such cool stuff this weekend that I wanted to share it, so I'm taking a page from [livejournal.com profile] jaylake and creating a reach-around post in case anyone's interested. Here are the links:

Friday night: A look into a 21st century project to create a handmade illuminated bible

Saturday: Answering phones for KUOW's spring pledge drive. I blogged the experience in real time on my PDA and uploaded it Sunday night.

Sunday: Attending the "Rome from the Louvre" exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum.

Sounds like you'd also be interested in the piece I heard Saturday on NPR -- Margot Adler talking to an artist who runs an atelier teaching apprentices the art of illumination.

With Jay, and now you, when I hear the term "weekend reach-around" all I can think of is the quote from Full Metal Jacket:

I'll bet you're the kind of guy that would fuck a person in the ass and not even have the goddam common courtesy to give him a reach-around. I'll be watching you.

Charming.

I found it amazing to read that those lines weren't even scripted – the actor (also a real-life military instructor) improvised it all.
