scarlettina: (Daffy frustration)

Spanky strikes again

With all the upheaval around here, I haven't been exceptionally careful about where I've been putting things. One of the things I suppose I should have been more careful with is one of the largest pieces of framed art I own, a big piece showing a man facing an other-worldly portal. I had it propped in a doorway, preparing to bring it downstairs to where I'd finally decided I wanted to hang it. Spanky started marking it and knocked it over, smashing the glass. I've spent the last 20 minutes cleaning up the glass--not done yet. Spanky, whom I sometimes think is too stupid to live, is locked in a bathroom where he can't get glass in his paws because I know that there's no way he wouldn't want to get his nose in the middle of the clean up. Merlin, the brains of the operation and completely unperturbed by the crash, still sits placidly on the couch alternately snoozing and watching me with an expression of mild curiosity on his face.

I know this is my own damn fault. I shouldn't have left the piece where I left it. The cat was just being a cat. I can't fault him for doing what is in his nature. He just happens to be a convenient target for my own frustration.

Given the state of the finances, this piece won't get new glass or get hung until well after I'm employed.

Damn.

Damn it.

::grumble::

Shoot. I'm glad to hear Spanky wasn't injured, but how frustrating.

Yeah, Spanky's fine. Based on his behavior this evening, I think he knows something went wrong. Tomorrow will be better. I hope.

Sympathy. You could at least hang it without the glass, until you feel secure spending money on new glass.

*facepalm*

SO long s nobody was hurt (either during the accident or you throttling him after) all's well. But oy, I feel your annoyance....

Idiot footrest.

Yikes!

I'm glad to hear Spanky's OK, but it's horrible, having to clean up and then replace all that glass.

(Last night seems to have been a glass-smashing night; we had an unanticipated broken-glass incident, as well.)

unanticipated broken-glass incident

I initially parsed that as "an unanticipated glass-breaking incident" and immediately thought, "Is that a jewish euphemism for a shotgun wedding"? :)

Yeah, I thought about that. The pace I was going to hang it has relatively high traffic, though, and I worry about the art being damaged by bodies passing by. I need to think about it a bit.

Idiot footrest indeed. He spent the rest of the evening bringing me cat toys. He definitely knows something went wrong.

I got out with one cut and three glass splinters. It was a lot of glass.

::sigh::

Darn cat.

The picture wasn't damaged? I hope not. That would be even more annoying.

Oh jeez. I know the one you mean. I'm so sorry! How dare spanky be all catlike? What was wrong with him?

At least no lasting damage to cat or print, as extremely annoying as this is, which is good.

So sorry!
