Harvey Korman

MSN TV News is reporting that Harvey Korman has passed away, 81 years old. Much more detail here.

Some of my earliest memories of TV include Korman's wonderful work on the Carol Burnett Show. I used to watch almost exclusively to see how long it would be before either he broke up over something Tim Conway did or vice versa. And the work still stands today as some of the funniest stuff ever aired.

Rest well, sir. If laughter's the best medicine, then you've helped heal the whole world.

M and I have commented many, many times over the years that the Carol Burnett Show stands as one of the best examples of variety shows in TV's history. (I am of an age where I frequently think about how much I miss variety shows in general...M, being younger, is not quite that nostalgic, but he did enjoy Burnett & Co.)

As you pointed out, the Korman/Conway breaking up was indeed a highlight and something worth waiting for.
