Breathing: Still a concious effort, plus writing blather

I've completed the course of antibiotics my doctor prescribed. I've rested-rested-rested, I've hydrated-hydrated-hydrated, and I'm still dealing with congestion and rapid-onset fatigue. I'm not sure what it is I've got (besides something that falls into the general "bacterial" category), but it's vicious and relentless. I hates it. It kept me from doing a great deal yesterday. It was me, the cats, and the couch most of the day.

In other news: I'll be attending a writing workshop on the Oregon coast in February (with [livejournal.com profile] bravado111 and [livejournal.com profile] erdnase2000 among others) taught by Dean Wesley Smith and Denise Little. Last night in e-mail, we received our first assignment for said workshop. It's for a short fantasy story, the details of which I'm not going to post here. Suffice it to say that part of me is really excited, and part of me is feeling like it's a little less inspired than I would have preferred because I feel like its Macguffin provides a more-limited-than-usual pool of source material. Now, I know what [livejournal.com profile] kenrand would say: My imagination is the only limitation. But, you know, some fantasy tropes are just more inspirational than others, at least for me. So I'm researching the selected Macguffin and hoping I can pick one in its category that gets me excited. I have some vague notions about how I want to proceed. It's a start, I suppose.

Mucho sympathy. We have that killer thing here. I have had this monster since the 4th. Fought it for a week and a half then went to the doctor. Same situation--done with the antibiotics and still have the crud.

May we pray that we don't have this cold for the rest of our lives...
