Haven't seen the film yet, but as it's one of my fave musicals of all time I shall certainly be doing so soon. But I had to comment on your comment on Gavroche, which was a surprise to me. Wikipedia confirms my recollection that in text of the play there's no hint he's a member of the Thenardier family, though he's listed as such in the playbill. What terrible parents, indeed!
